Tall Spiky Weed With Yellow Flowers

I've got a few of these very tall (almost 6 feet) weeds growing along the east side of my house here in the hudson valley of new york. I don't know exactly why i like knowing the names of the plants i find.

Reddish, nearly smooth, slightly branched in lower proportion.
